Indie developer Chewa has unleashed a new game of hide-and-seek with The Matriarch. It’s a new party game where players take control of the titular character and suspicious Nuns. Both sides must attend to their goals while reaching their respective endgames. May it be the total destruction of the Sinners, or will the Nuns escape fate? Let’s find out as we dive into The Matriarch, available now on Steam.
She’s Coming for You if You Don’t Run in The Matriarch
The game takes direct inspiration from The Escapists, Among Us and the actual fun of playing hide-and-seek. With up to 8 available players, we focus on the tension between The Matriarch and potential Sinners. Our titular figure must identify and commit sacrifices upon any opposing Nuns. They essentially keep a sharp eye on everyone in the convent until they find the sinning characters. When it comes to the Nuns, they’re programmed to act like BOTs to evade any possible trouble. The antagonist here will try and weed out the fakes from the real.
The Matriarch release trailer presents cartoon violence and character designs to make it distinguishable for its genre. Our Nuns constantly attempt to dig underground and escape their horror from the provided footage. But their villainous overseer might say something otherwise. As in, she’ll murder any of the Sinners that she catches. She can also act in insane ways to rough the Nuns off their balance. We’ve attached the trailer here for you to check out.
In addition to demonstrating the mechanics, the game supports customizable matches to tweak with the maps, timers, and other features. Of course, you have the option to either play online via the public servers or host a private one to play with your friends. And with the price being marked only at $4.99, players can access future content and updates without spending another penny! As a quick side note, there’s a special launch discount of 10% ($4.49) that will conclude on October 3. Now’s the time to grab your copy of The Matriarch from Steam!
