A new series of variant covers sees iconic Marvel characters enter the Spider-Verse. Some of Marvel’s biggest heroes, like Daredevil, Emma Frost, and Wolverine, head into the Spider-Verse with some new costumes. This is the second set of these Spidey variants Marvel has teased. Both sets are part of an upcoming Edge of Spider-Verse limited series also focused on the multiverse of Spider-Man.
Welcome to the Spider-Verse
Back in February, Marvel unveiled several Spider-Verse variant covers. They featured Storm, Deadpool, Doctor Strange, Thor, and a few others as part of the series. Now, Marvel has released eight more variant covers with even more heroes getting the Spidey treatment.
Per CBR, the new additions include Dave Johnson’s Daredevil #11 variant. It also includes Taurin Clarke’s Immortal X-Men #11 and Leinil Francis Yu’s variant for Wolverine #33. Gerald Parel offers his talents to X-Men #22, while Cully Hamner takes on the variant for Hulk Annual #1. Meanwhile, John Cassaday gives Frank Castle a Spider makeover for Punisher #12, and Captain American: Symbol of Truth #13 gets the Spider-Verse treatment from Pete Woods.
There is also a special Dave Talaski Spider-Verse variant that pays homage to Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko’s Amazing Fantasy #15. It sees a Spider-Mary Jane Watson swinging through New York with Peter Parker. This special cover for a special issue will tie up the recent drama between Mary Jane and Peter.
Getting Ready for Something New
These variant covers are in celebration of the upcoming Edge of Spider-Verse five-issue limited series. The new comic, which launches in May, brings some fan-favorite Spider-Verse characters back. It also introduces a whole new set of Spider personas like “Spider-Killer.”
The limited series features a brand-new Spider-Rex story from Karla Pacheco and Pere Perez. It also features the return of the Spinstress in a magical story from David Hein and Luciano Vecchio. Edge of Spider-Verse #1 is out on May 3.
