The Walking Dead is not only a bestselling comic book series and a highly rated TV franchise. It also has a big presence in the gaming industry. Now, developer Elex and Skybound Entertainment has announced their latest mobile game foray with The Walking Dead: Survivors, a multiplayer strategy game coming soon to iOS and Android.
The zombie franchise is best known in the gaming industry for the wildly popular Telltale series. There have also been several mobile games before, including Road to Survival and No Man’s Land. Mobile gaming is nothing particularly new to the zombie series. Survivors represents their latest attempt at creating a multiplayer PvP strategy game.
The Walking Dead: Survivors is a Clash of Clans-style zombie survival game. It comes complete with playable characters from the comic rather than the TV show, such as Rick, Michonne, Dwight, and Glenn. It’s worth bearing in mind that characters such as Daryl — who are exclusive to the TV show — sadly will not be playable in this game. Players must choose a survivor and build a town to fend off other players as well as walkers. Features include sending survivors into the unknown to gather supplies, searching for survivors, building your community. And, of course, battling the undead.

The Walking Dead: Survivors is slated to drop on both iOS and Android. You can pre-register the game here to instantly unlock fan-favorite Rick Grimes when the game launches. While the official release date is yet to be confirmed, it’s currently listed for April 16 on the Apple App Store. This game comes at a good time for Walking Dead fans. The long-running comic concluded last year and fans have been desperate for more adventures. Additionally, the TV show is currently airing its six additional episodes in an extension to season 10, so there’s a lot of talk about the AMC property at the moment.
