The Witcher: Monster Slayer is coming to your mobile device soon. When it arrives it will use augmented reality tech to allow you to step into the boots of Geralt of Rivia.
At least you’ll be able to pretend you’re the famous Witcher if it suits your fancy. Developer Spokko, acquired by CD Projekt RED back in 2018 is working on this officially licensed mobile game.
Just when it is going to be launching is anyone’s guess. Spokko said simply that Monster Slayer is coming “soon.” On the official website, users can sign up for updates for when you can get the game.
Looking at screenshots on that site, it looks as though Monster Slayer is aimed at being a kind of Pokemon Go killer. The map layout of where creatures in your neighborhood are hiding out is very similar to that incredibly popular mobile title.

Once players stumble onto a monster, then are able to do battle with them. It’s not entirely clear what the mechanics of this will be or whether there will really be a battle.
It’s entirely possible we’re talking about the same kind of “capture” tech Pokemon Go uses as well.
Monster Slayer is done by different developers so it can’t be a one-t0-one clone.
One different take on this Witcher game is that it is promising story-driven quests. The stories are said to be taken directly from The Witcher series of games and books and will mean that while you aren’t going to be Geralt himself, you can become one of his compatriots.
Monster Slayer will also allow you to collect trophies of all the monsters you are fighting and defeating, no matter where those battles take place.
You can check out the teaser trailer above, though be warned, you’re not going to get a ton of information about what The Witcher: Monster Slayer offers as it’s the very definition of a tease.
