A new preview for Death of Doctor Strange: Black Knight/X-Men #1 shows that the mutants are not doing too well. Following the murder of the Sorcerer Supreme, the X-Men venture to London to help fill the gap that his death left. However, the mystical world proves too much for the mutants, and they soon find themselves overwhelmed.
What Happened to the X-Men?
While it seems the X-Men have perished, it turns out that they have just been transformed. London’s latest pair of Black Knights soon discover that the mutants are not dead but have been turned into giant monsters. Bob Quinn’s art from the issue shows off how the X-Men’s gifts have influenced their new forms. For example, Sunfire is now completely consumed by fire, and Wolverine is an actual beast.
Who Is Going to Save Them?
Death of Doctor Strange: Black Knight/X-Men #1 will show Dane Whitman and his daughter, Jacks, sharing the moniker of Black Knight. Together, they will confront the mutated mutants attacking London. The duo will be joined by Faiza Hussain, who now wields the legendary Excalibur. How they will stop, the transformed X-Men is anybody’s guess.
What Else Could Go Wrong?
However, the new monster X-Men may not be the only problem the trio will face. According to the official synopsis for the one-shot from Marvel Fandom, “an even deadlier threat” may be on its way. While there is no clue as to what the threat is, it is sure to be up to no good. It will likely push the new Black Knight to her limits and test Hussain’s skills with Excalibur.
The Death of Doctor Strange event has sent ripples throughout the Marvel universe. When the Sorcerer Supreme was murdered in the Sanctum Santorum, his protection died too. This left Earth vulnerable to magical attacks like the one plaguing London. Now, Earth’s mightiest must work together to keep the mystical forces at bay. At least until Clea takes over as the new Sorcerer Supreme in March.
Death of Doctor Strange: Black Knight/X-Men #1 will hit comic book shops and digital on January 19.
