Netflix has a new blockbuster in the TV series Squid Game. Many people from every corner of the globe has taken a look, and the reception of the show is overwhelmingly positive. But the Squid Game subtitles may not be as accurate as people hope. So what is the fix?
Proper Squid Game Subtitles Settings
As an international hit, the show has fans from many countries. But since the show is in Korean, subtitles are a necessity for some viewers. It’s especially necessary for English speakers unfamiliar with the language. For many Netflix shows like Squid Game, the setting will go automatically to ‘English (CC).’ But there is one problem with this setting. While it does translate what is said, this setting is specifically meant for viewers who are deaf. This setting often includes things like environmental noises and the name of the person currently speaking.
There’s a simple solution to getting the right Squid Game subtitles, though. If you want more accurate translations, simply go into the settings and choose the “English” option without the ‘CC.’ One Twitter user, fluent in Korean, felt the need to give proper translations. Be advised, the language in the video can be considered ‘graphic.’

Changing your settings can give you more accurate Squid Game subtitles, but it seems the only way to truly get the original meaning is to learn the language. But that may not be such a bad thing. With a show that has been so positively received, it might motivate more dedicated fans to become bilingual.
If you’re a fan of K-drama, you should still give the show a chance. And perhaps with more people jumping on the bandwagon, future viewers can watch the show with more accurate translations.
