The HBO Max dramas Titans and Doom Patrol are ending after four seasons. Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the producers of both shows knew this was coming amid all the changes with DC Entertainment, and they plotted out their currently running fourth seasons to conclude in a way that won’t leave fans in the dark. Both Titans and Doom Patrol were originally launched as part of the DC Universe streaming platform. That eventually became a comics-only platform while all streaming content has moved to HBO Max. Titans and Doom Patrol are the latest DC projects to meet their ending at the hands of Warner Bros. Discovery’s overhaul of DC.
‘Titans’ and ‘Doom Patrol’ Latest DC Projects to Come to an End
Titans and Doom Patrol are ending at a point where there’s no surprise when any DC project comes to an end. When Warner Bros. and Discovery merged last year, a DC Entertainment overhaul was almost immediately underway. Among the many changes proposed was a focus on budgeting toward feature films rather than streaming content. This is why so many projects, such as The Wonder Twins and Batgirl, were canceled. Both of those films were to be released as HBO Max exclusive films.
It’s also worth noting that Titans and Doom Patrol have been rumored to be in danger of ending for several months. That’s according to an article by JoBlo published in August 2022, saying that while both shows have a sizable fanbase, they are ultimately niche programs that Warner Bros. Discovery would have a hard time justifying the expense for. The end of these shows was basically inevitable.
While the news of Titans and Doom Patrol ending is sure to disappoint some fans, they can at least know the producers saw it coming and will give the shows proper endings.
