Development is still early for the Apple TV+ series Lazarus, but it has made a significant move by casting Tom Hardy and Zazie Beetz, Deadline reported. Development and deals are still being made for the series, so do not hold your breath for a release anytime soon. The series is being developed by A+E Studios and Range Studios, which sold the show to Apple.
Tom Hardy and Zazie Beetz will be embarking in a world already crafted as Lazarus is based on a series of novels by Lars Kepler (a pseudonym for Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril). It followed the return of a man, who was taken with his sister by serial killer Jurek Walter. Detective Saga Bauer goes undercover at a psychiatric hospital where the killer has been kept. The Atlanta Emmy nominee will play the detective, the Fury Road star will play the killer.
Øystein Karlsen will write, executive produce, and direct the series.
Tom Hardy and Zazie Beetz will lead Apple TV+ series, Lazarus
Tom Hardy will produce, while Zazie Beetz will executive produce Lazarus. Dean Baker will produce with Hardy. Executive producing with Beetz will be David Rysdahl, the authors, Niclas Salomonsson, Barry Jossen, Tana Jamieson, Heather Kadin, Peter Micelli, and Jack Whigham.
Both stars have been busy, especially in recent years. Tom Hardy will add Lazarus to his extensive filmography, which includes the Venom films, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, Locke, Mad Max: Fury Road, Peaky Blinders, Capone, and The Revenant, which he received an Oscar nomination for his supporting role. Zazie Beetz has plenty of experience on TV now that she signed on for a leading role in Lazarus, but has time on the big screen too. Her TV credits include Atlanta, Invincible, and Easy. Films for her include Joker, Deadpool 2, Bullet Train, and Nine Days.
