The Sixth Sense star Toni Collette and her longtime husband, Dave Galafassi, are headed for a divorce shortly after a cheating scandal rocked their longtime marriage.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the actress announced the breakup on behalf of herself and her soon-to-be ex-husband. In her post, the 50-year-old clarified that she and her husband, 45, jointly decided that a split was the right path for them at this point in their marriage. She wrote:
“It is with grace and gratitude that we announce we are divorcing. We’re united in our decision and part with continuing respect and care for each other.”
Toni Collette explained that their kids, including Sage Florence, 14, and Arlo Robert, 11, remained a priority despite their divorce. Hence, they would continue to thrive as a family “albeit a different shape.” The star proceeded to thank everyone in anticipation of the space and love they hope to receive as they navigate the new changes in their life.
She accompanied her announcement with a photo of a floral arrangement that read, “PEACE & LOVE,” set on a white tiled surface.
Toni Collette Looks Forward To Something Better Post Divorce
Hours before announcing her impending divorce from husband Dave Galafassi, Toni Collette shared a cryptic message about creating positive things out of even the direst circumstances, writing,
“No matter what your current circumstances are, if you can imagine something better for yourself, you can create it.”
The Stowaway actress’ divorce announcement comes a day after news of her husband’s infidelity broke. Photos of Toni Collete’s husband kissing another woman at a beach in Sydney, Australia, surfaced a day prior. Other photos showed the two holding hands in the water and cozying up together.
Although Toni Collette and her husband failed to address the scandal publicly, the couple, who tied the knot in a Buddhist ceremony in 2003, apparently battled it out internally. While their decision to split may not exactly sit well with the kids, the actress and the musician believe it best for them and successfully reached a joint agreement concerning the fate of their marriage. Hopefully, the family will be able to scale through this trying moment and emerge on the other side more fulfilled.
