Tired of the countless rounds of Fortnite or Apex Legends? Here is a quick top 10 list of cross-play games to play with friends. Each of these games can be played on PC, Xbox, PS4, and Switch. Not only that, but they can be played together no matter which system you own. Ultimately, this list contains games that will bring more life to your gaming experience.
10. Brawlhalla
Number 10 on this top 10 list is Brawlhalla, a 2D fighting game. Play online with friends in a free-for-all, fight in 2v2, or climb the rankings. In other words, there is something for everyone. As a matter of fact, there are over 40 different fighting styles and characters to choose from. With all of that in mind, it’s no wonder how much time you can spend playing this game with friends.
9. Minecraft Dungeons
Number 9 of the top 10 is a renovation of a classic. Minecraft Dungeons is a 4 player co-op dungeon crawler filled with constant reminders of the original Minecraft game. Even after finishing the game, you can buy the DLC in the season pass and continue the Minecraft Dungeon fun! Above all, the calmness of Minecraft plus the dangers of dungeon crawling equals a pretty fun time.
8. Paladins
Since Overwatch doesn’t currently support cross-play, the second-best choice is Paladins. This first-person online shooter similar to Overwatch has a score of 9 out of 10 on Steam and an 8.4 out of 10 by IGN. Given the options of 40 characters across 4 different roles, the replay value is high. In addition, it is also free to play.
7. Aragami
Aragami is number 7 in our top 10 list. For a more in-depth review of this game, check out our review here. Aragami is a third-person stealth assassination game that you can play with another player. Together with a stunning design and soundtrack, it is no wonder this game has plenty of replay value. Given these points, who wouldn’t want to play this game?
6. Dead by Daylight
Dead by Daylight is perfectly placed as number 6 on this top 10 list. If you haven’t heard of this game yet, you should. Dead by Daylight is an asymmetric survival horror game in the same fashion as Friday the 13th in which there are multiple survivors and one killer. What makes this game different aside from being cross-play, is that each killer has their own unique abilities to hunt down the survivors. But don’t fret just yet, each survivor has their own skill tree to help in the escape. With plenty of DLC adding more characters on either side of the fight, the frights and flights keep on coming! They have even included some famous faces from TV and movies. With Dead by Daylight, as long as you can work together to survive, or use the special powers of the killer, this game will be a blast!
5. Phantasy Star Online 2
Phantasy Star Online 2 is a free-to-play fantasy role-playing game staged in the Phantasy Star world. Likewise, it’s cross-play through all platforms, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. In case you have not heard of the previous 4 original games, and multiple spin-offs, remake, and online versions of these games, these games are based on a fictional planetary system of Algol. As can be seen, endless action and adventure await with your friends at your side.
4. Trailblazers
Number 4 on the top 10 list is Trailblazers, which sounds just like it plays. Not only is this a cross-play racing game where you get to paint the track and boost off of your own paint. But also, you work together as a team in order to cover the track in your color and win the race. Although this game is not as highly rated as others on this list, it could easily be a hidden gem of a game. It’s not as well known as some of these other games, but check it out here for yourself! All things considered, you should grab 5 of your friends to have a 3v3 race and have fun!
3. Smite
Smite is a third-person battle arena came by the same creators of Paladins. Similarly, this game is also free to play. However, it has managed to get a higher score on IGN than Paladins by .1 point. Instead of being similar to Overwatch, this game is a 5v5 arena battle game. In general, if you are tired of the countless payload missions, or want to settle a bet with your friends, this battle arena title is for you!
2. Dauntless
Dauntless is a well-known co-op RPG game that is free to play. Furthermore, this game is similar to Monster Hunter with adventure as well as building skills in order to defeat massive enemies. Just like with Monster Hunter, this game is a great adventurous escape from reality. Dauntless is higher on this list compared to the other RPG, Phantasy Star Online 2, for its similarity to the household name of Monster Hunter and the higher score it received on IGN of 8.5 out of 10. In short, all this fun can be had with your friends on different platforms.
1. Rocket League
It’s no surprise that the top racing car soccer game is rated high on this top 10 list. What some people may not know is that this game can reach each platform. Therefore, you can play with every one of your friends no matter which console they have. The reason that Rocket League is number 1 on this list, is because it has at least 7 different game modes on top of the regular game. The replay value of this game is exponential when the best way to get better at this game is constant practice. It is also a great way to mess with your friends or relieve some pent-up stress.
All things considered, you could easily just play Fortnite or Apex Legends again, but wouldn’t it feel better to gain a new experience with a different game? Try these for yourself and let us know your favorite. If you know of any other full cross-platform games not in this top ten list, please leave it in the comments below.
