Make sure to get that beam katana primed and ready as Nintendo has revealed at PAX West 2018 that Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes is launching January 18, 2019.
Nintendo revealed the release date on Twitter today for the Grasshopper Manufacture developed Switch exclusive.
The oddly, backwards titled exclusive is being directed by Suda51 and will see Travis Touchdown thrust into a video game console aptly named the Death Drive Mark II. Travis will traverse through many worlds and genres that pay homage to popular indie titles from the past decade. His goal, and the players is to squash bugs in the code, and the game is set to include cooperative play with one additional player.
Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes will feature many collaborations with independent studios, including Yacht Club Games of Shovel Knight fame. Revealed at 2017’s PAX West convention, it is still unclear what exactly this partnership will bring to the game, but if Suda51 is behind it, expect it to be wild and weird.
Hotline Miami will also be featured in the game but as with Shovel Knight, it is anybody’s guess as to what that might entail.
The original No More Heroes was released on the Nintendo Wii over 8 years ago as part of a push by Nintendo to put out more mature-rated content on their platform. The game sold decently enough and a sequel titled No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, was released nearly 2 years later. Unfortunately, the title garnered little interest from consumers and it seemed like Travis’ franchise had hit its end. In the interim, Grasshopper Manufacture has released a remake of the original and its sequel on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Suda51 has voiced his excitement to develop a third game in the franchise for many years now, so its great the game has found its way back exclusively to a Nintendo console.
