Following the announcement of exiting hosting duties on The Daily Show, Trevor Noah has set up his third comedy special on Netflix called I Wish You Would. It will release on November 22 exclusively on the streaming platform.
Before becoming the host of the late-night show, Trevor Noah became known for his comedy, leading to the latest special. His two previous ones on the streaming giant are 2017’s Afraid of the Dark and 2018’s Son of Patricia. For I Wish You Would, he will deliver “revelations about learning to speak German, modern communication, and his love for curry,” according to the logline.
Trevor Noah continues his comedy with new special on Netflix
I Wish You Would was filmed in Toronto at the Scotiabank Arena. Director of The Daily Show, Afraid of the Dark, and Son of Patricia, David Paul Meyer, will direct. Trevor Noah executive produces the Netflix comedy special with Bob Bain, Norm Aladjem, Derek Van Pelt, and Sanaz Yamin.
The Daily Show host had one of the longest tenure on the series. He started in 2015 and announced a sudden departure last month that not even the producers knew about, making it difficult to find a new host as it normally would have been planned out if there was internal knowledge about his exit. His final episode will air on December 8, followed by a brief break for the show until January 17. Previously, Craig Kilborn hosted from 1996 to 98. Jon Stewart holds the longest reign from 1999 to 2015. No permanent replacement has been announced, with reports that it may cycle through various hosts with nobody named in the running.
You don’t have long to wait for Trevor Noah on his new comedy special, I Wish You Would, as it releases on November 22. You can catch his other two specials that are streaming on Netflix.
