Tyra Banks quits “DWTS” to follow her own stars which lie in business. The supermodel will no longer be a host on the dance show.
Since the early 2000s, Tyra Banks has honed her hosting skills. The model and businesswoman hosted”America’s Next Top Model” and “America’s Got Talent.” In 2020, she was announced as the new host of “Dancing With the Stars.” Banks’ contract was renewed after the network dropped Tom Bergeron.
Bergeron hosted the show for fifteen years. He replaced Erin Andrews, who was on the show for six years. The ABC studios felt it was time to say goodbye to their longtime host especially since they experienced poor ratings.
Upon getting the new gig, Banks shared her excitement and readiness to take her job seriously. In her words:
“Tom has set a powerful stage. And I’m excited to continue the legacy and put on my executive producer and hosting hats.”
Following the change of host, Banks first season witnessed a humongous turnout. The show’s 29th season recorded its highest ratings in four seasons.
Over 8 million people tuned in for the first show of the season. The excuse was that “DWTS” was the first live show to return to TV after the pandemic. About Banks’ hosting, viewers reacted differently.
Last year, it was determined that the show’s host will not return as producers intend to move it to a streaming platform. At the time, her replacement was not discussed. Almost a year after this big reveal, Tyra Banks quits “DWTS.” She admitted this while visiting Whole Foods In Santa Monica.
