While the details surrounding the announcement are very sparse, we can dissect some of these ideas to identify what Lucasfilm Games wants from these new projects. After canceling EA’s title and scaling back Motive Studios Star Wars: Squadrons, it would seem that Disney planning on dominating their realm of the gaming space. Following through with their plans to develop another title begs the question of what further pushed Disney to separate themselves from EA. With their 10-year contract ending in just a few more years, we might get a good glimpse of these Ubisoft plans sometime soon. Whatever this project turns out to be, it’s sure to be a first for the franchise much like Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order opening many possibilities for story-focused single-player experiences set in a galaxy far far away.
