It appears that it isn’t that big a deal to have a director for the Uncharted movie.
Despite losing its sixth director, the Uncharted movie is set to film in about four weeks, according to star Tom Holland. Set to play Nathan Drake, he told IGN that they would begin shooting the movie in four weeks. Not only that, but the stunt department in Berlin is hard at work prepping stunts for the film’s action sequences.
Tom Holland claims that the movie will have a “young, fresh take” on Nathan Drake. In fact, the film will have a plot completely independent of the games. Instead, it should act as an origin story to Uncharted. Regarding the script, Holland claims that “it’s one of the best scripts I’ve ever read.” But he may be a little biased since one of his “favorite video games ever is the fourth Uncharted game.”
Indeed, this is a lot of praise for a film that has no director and gone through six others. Ruben Fleischer, director of Zombieland and Venom, was rumored to head the project, but nothing has been confirmed.
Mark Wahlberg is attached to the project and will be playing Sully. Holland and Wahlberg are set to travel the world together as they film the movie in varied and exotic locations.
It’s certainly a little surprising that the movie is going to be filmed so soon. Some thought the project would never see the light of day. It’s production certainly has been troublesome, but, hopefully, the Uncharted movie will turn out to be as fun and thrilling as the games are.
I would like to say that Uncharted might break the norm of bad video game movies, but it seems that it is already happening. The Sonic the Hedgehog film is surprisingly good, and its box office success demonstrates that.
What do you think? Do you think they are jumping the gun filming so soon? Are you excited for the Uncharted movie, or are you suspicious of it given the trainwreck that has been the movie’s production? Let us know in the comments below!
