Many fans have been both excited and hesitant about a new Halo game. While 343 Industries has learned a lot since releasing titles like Halo 4 and Halo 5, so has the market for first-person shooters. With free-to-play titles taking the world by storm, so has the monetization efforts by 343. With new skins and spartan cosmetics locked behind microtransactions, some players have voiced their concerns vehemently. Expressing displeasure for the six years of Halo Infinite’s development period, fans have been pushing back. So much so, that the entirety of the Halo Reddit community had to shut down to wade through all of the toxicity. With only a handful of modes available at the beta launch just a few weeks ago, players have been wondering about some other fan-favorite game modes. Now, revealed through some of the leaked API data, fans have been able to confirm a few upcoming Halo Infinite multiplayer modes 343 is actively developing.
NEW GAME MODES?
According to our friends/partners at @halodotapi, 343i are early in the process of developing new game modes for #Halo #HaloInfinite including: Assault, Grifball, Infection and King of the Hill (See picture) pic.twitter.com/BA8NHYaMHY— HaloHub (@HaloHubGG) December 7, 2021
When Will Halo Infinite’s New Multiplayer Modes Go Live?
While SWAT, Fiesta, and Free For All were confirmed to be added, this reveal brings more modes. With King of the Hill, Assault, Infection, and even Grifball; the variety of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer modes could truly encompass a classic feeling. As the subtweet explains, many of these modes are far from release due to AI programming. Even still, it’s curious as to why Halo Infinite’s beta launch would omit these modes.
Not just waiting until the game’s full release or like forge, 343 decided on monetizing the beta experience. As many have expressed their disdain for Halo Infinite’s six-year development period, it seems that 343 Industries is working to create a fresh experience that isn’t hindered by previous iterations. The time it takes to reexamine a 20-year-old title like Halo certainly comes with some missteps. While Halo Infinite launches tomorrow for PC, Xbox One, and Series X/S consoles; 343 is consistently working to make Halo Infinite a great experience.
