Some say that the best way to carry yourself is to walk softly and carry a big stick. With the Stagbreaker in Valheim, you’ll get a chance to do just that. Being one of the best weapons to get early on in the game, the Stagbreaker sets a precedent for what to expect from a heavy weapon: taking big, damaging swipes and ground pounds that knock back an area of enemies back. When you’re taking on a group of enemies, having a weapon like this at the ready is absolutely critical. Thankfully, you have this guide that will help you get started with a Stagbreaker of your very own.
How to Get the Stagbreaker
The Stagbreaker is a two-handed hammer that, at its base level, is capable of 20 Blunt damage, 5 Pierce damage, and a massive 150 Knockback. When you can first craft this on most playthroughs, it is practically a given that you need this weapon as it’s the first of its kind that gives you that kind of advantage. Like other two-handed weapons, though, it does slow down your movement speed by 20% so be aware of this when taking the Stagbreaker into combat.
You’ll be attaining the Stagbreaker through crafting and it requires 20 Core Wood, 5 Deer Trophy, and 2 Leather Scrap to craft. Getting the Stagbreaker and learning how to use it properly is one of the fundamental steps towards success in Valheim, right up there with good food and armor. As you’re upgrading the Stagbreaker, you’ll need more of the same materials but Bone Fragments will be necessary for the upgrades. As such, be sure to grab some of those through your travels. It has four additional upgrade levels and is well worth the upgrading so get on top of that as soon as you upgrade your workbench.
