One of the best mindsets to set you up for success in Valheim is preparedness. One of the best ways to prepare yourself for what’s to come is to familiarize yourself with what’s coming when you explore a new area. One of the first areas you traverse after beating the game’s first boss, Eikthyr, is the Black Forest. This fresh area gives you the ability to make a pickaxe, which is vital to getting yourself tin, an absolutely vital part of making bronze. This guide will get you set up with how to get yourself some tin and what to do once you get your hands on it.
How to Get Tin in Valheim
Like mentioned earlier, in order to get access to tin you’re going to need to defeat the game’s first boss, Eikthyr, in order to gain access to the Black Forest and acquire a vital piece to craft a pickaxe, which allows you to mine the stuff, to begin with. Tin nodes in the Black Forest are located near water, so if you walk around a body of water you should be able to see some spots that look greyish, those will be your nodes. Tin nodes look a little bit like stone except they don’t have any grass or moss on them and they look a bit shinier.
Of course, simply finding the nodes isn’t enough to get your hands on what they provide, so you’ll need to get your hands on a pickaxe by crafting it from materials garnered from defeating Eikthyr. You’ll need to use the pickaxe to mine any ore and tin is no different. Once it’s been smelted you can use it as a part of making bronze equipment, which is the set you should be aiming for as you progress towards the next are and the next boss, The Elder.
