More Details on the Dota 2 Accounts Ban
It is firstly worth noting that the game is normally competitive in nature. Hence, players tend to do all they can to win. With this knowledge, therefore, various players have resorted to cheating in order for them to top the scoreboard.
Valve did not take this lightly, as it is unethical and one of the worst abusive behaviors players can engage in. Hence leading to the permanent ban of over forty thousand Dota 2 accounts.
Valve’s Detection of Cheating Led to the Ban
Valve detected the suspicious activities from players’ feedback. It is noteworthy that Dota 2 and Valve generally have an exemplary feedback system that is open to all players. It is equally important to note that it clearly considers such feedback. Hence, in their official release, Valve thanked all the players who reported players acting suspiciously in-game. They further thanked those who reviewed overwatch cases where this behavior was observed.

Is Permanent Deletion Too Harsh?
The issue of whether the accounts’ permanent deletion is too harsh is rather undebatable for various reasons. Firstly, one needs to consider the offense in question. The magnitude of cheating in this game to gain an advantage over one’s competitor is very unfair. This is according to Valve’s guiding principles.
According to official communication, skill and tenacity are prerequisites for earning victories in Dota. Furthermore, the game’s creators initially intended that layers should always play the game on an even field. Therefore, cheating violates this noble intention.
Hence, Valve’s ban of over forty thousand Dota 2 accounts due to cheating is a tough lesson to any player intending to participate in any form of misconduct.
