It’s well known that Marvel and Sony aren’t including Venom in the MCU (for now). Luckily, Venom is still a vital part of the comic universe for Marvel. As such, he will be getting some alterations with the new cannon. These changes will take place in the first issue of Venom: First Host.
In the new canon, long before the symbiote attached to well-known host Eddie Brock, it actually joined to a cosmic entity. The most interesting part? It may be attached to warrior that takes part in Kree-Skrull War.
The Kree-Skrull War is well known in the Marvel universe, as it is the entire reason that Carol Danvers gets her Captain Marvel powers. This event will be explored far more directly in the upcoming Marvel film, possibly opening up the ability for a future Venom inclusion in the MCU.
While it isn’t clear if the comic will feature an appearance from Danvers, we do know that Eddie Brock will get the symbiote after meeting a Kree soldier by the name of Tel-Kar, the first host.
Venom: First Host will be a five issue series, releasing weekly starting at the end of August and ending in September 2018.
In the meantime, fans will have both heroes will be making their silver screen debuts within the year! Sony’s Venom is set for a release date of October 5, 2018, while Captain Marvel is slated for March 8, 2019.
