Eddie Brock has had a tumultuous superhuman career. First bonding with the discarded alien symbiote cast off by Spider-Man, the two merged to become Venom. While Venom hated Spidey, circumstances often forced the two together. Now, Brock has moved away from his former enemy and become an antihero. Many heroes are reluctant to work with such people as they are often violent and unpredictable. However, it appears that Venom has changed a few minds.
Recently, Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage, attacked New York with an army of drones in an effort to wake the Symbiote God Knull. Carnage sought to harvest the codices hidden in past and present symbiote host bodies, which would allow him to contact Knull. These events, chronicled in the Absolute Carnage miniseries, saw Eddie battle his longtime foe alongside various heroes who have come into contact with symbiotes in the past. Chief among these allies were members of the Avengers such as Captain America, Hawkeye, Wolverine, and Thing. Eddie Brock eventually defeated Carnage and saved New York. Therefore, Cap and the company feel that the former antihero will make a great addition to the team.
Venom #21 Spoilers
In Venom #21, Eddie Brock meets with the current Avengers team in their base, Avengers Mountain. Dressing up for the occasion, Brock is greeted by Captain America, who voices his full endorsement for Avengers membership. He then leads Brock to the rest of the team, which includes Iron Man, Thor, Black Panther, She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes), and Blade. All heroes present seem to agree on Venom becoming an Avenger.
Sadly, Eddie Brock has to leave before he can give a definitive answer. However, this membership offer is proof that people no longer see Venom as an utterly mindless behemoth. Brock has slowly changed throughout his time as a superhuman. Now, with Knull on his way to Earth, Venom will need all hands on deck to deal with this threat. Who better to stand with him than Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?
