Independent video game studio Big Moxi Games has officially announced Wardens Rising, a MOBA-style PvE game currently set to release for PC and consoles at a to-be-announced future date. The game’s announcement comes with the launch of its Steam page, along with its first gameplay trailer over on the dev’s YouTube channel. According to the official press release and the game’s website, Wardens Rising is a multi-genre game, combining the best elements of a MOBA (as in League of Legends and Pokemon UNITE) base defense and fast-paced PvE co-op shooter action. You take on the role of a hero Warden in a “tech-infused fantasy universe” whose task is to battle and repel “massive invasions by interdimensional enemies.”
Along with your SPEC companion, you must watch over and defend numerous bases that hold vital Synthesis Energy Cores, protecting them from damage and capture by enemy forces. To that end, you have an array of sci-fi weapons at your disposal, along with numerous special abilities. You can also build defense towers that have their own special abilities, and that can have their attack range, armor, and special abilities upgraded on the fly.
Wardens Rising additional features include:
- Six Warden classes planned for initial release: Soldier, Elemental Master, Shinobi, Engineer, Hunter, and another super-secret class to be announced at a later date.
- Warden heroes have special abilities, including core ranged attack, and an ‘ultimate’ ability.
- Warden heroes also have their own customizable tech loadouts, including individual items, defensive towers, and a SPEC companion, and each of those can be upgraded for deeper hero personalization.
- More than 25 maps available, each one with a Synthesis Energy Core that must be protected, as well as Core energy-boosting power nodes, and plenty of strategic space to build defense towers.
- Invasions campaign as the base gameplay mode, with procedurally-generated Endless, Liberate, and Create modes planned for future releases.
- Play solo, or co-op play with up to four players.
Big Moxie Games is also inviting all gamers who want to try out Wardens Rising early and potentially help with the game’s development, to join the game’s Discord community and apply to become a pre-alpha test player. And be sure to click over to the Wardens Rising website for more game info.
