In terms of co-op games released recently that I enjoy, there are two big names in there. Overcooked, and Vermintide 2. Vermintide 2 specifically offers a lot of intense gameplay against hordes of rats and is a blast to play through with friends. It’s my first introduction to the Fatshark team, and it already has me immensely interested. That interest is only being furthered in today’s news. During the Xbox Game Showcase, Fatshark announced Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, a co-op shooter coming to PC and Xbox Series X in 2021. The team showed off the game with a teaser trailer.
Darktide brings players into the hive city of Tertium, located in sub-level six. There’s been some level of “unrest” in the city, and a squad of four has been sent to investigate it. In this city, a seed of corruption is threatening the world with the cult of Admonition. As members of the Inquisition, you must root out this evil and put an end to it, before Chaos takes over the world in its quest for dominance. Will you and three other friends be able to stop it, or will you fall just like the rest?
I’m really glad Fatshark is looking into another section of Warhammer 40,000 with Darktide. Their Vermintide series is great, but I feel it’s the right time to step into a new section before that series gets tiring to fans. With a change in tone, one can expect this to be a unique but familiar take on the co-op shooter. If you’re interested to see more of Darktide, you can get a taste of it through the images released on its Steam page today.
I’m immensely excited about Darktide, but I’d love to hear your thoughts. Do you think Darktide will turn out to be a solid co-op shooter? Are you a fan of Vermintide as well and if so, which class do you main? Let me know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
