Wasteland 3 has a lot of interesting skills, some of which we already talked about in different guides for the Mechanics and Toaster Repair skills. That said, in this guide, we will go over everything players need to know about The Animal Whisperer Skill. Starting with what it does and what skill bonuses and perks Animal Whisperer offers to the player.
All Wasteland 3 Animal Whisperer Skill Bonuses And Perks
In short, Animal Whisperer allows players in Wasteland 3 to tame various non-hostile animals to follow the player around in battle. These sometimes will include various animals that require skill checks like Major Tom or Cyborg Chickens. The skill also allows players to temporarily tame hostile creatures in combat.Â

On top of all that, the skill also provides various buffs to animal companion damage and perks that add even more bonuses for animal companions. For all of the Skill Bonuses offered by Animal Whisperer, check the list below.
All Animal Whisperer Skill Bonuses:
- Tame difficulty level 1 to 10 non-hostile animals.
- Â Animal Companion Damage boost: Ranges from +5% to +50%.
- Temporarily tame level 3 and above hostile animals in combat.
Moving on, along with the skill bonuses listed above, Animal Whisperer has some pretty decent perks that as we mentioned earlier further add bonuses to both animal companions and the player. With that said, we will go over each perk and give a quick summary of what it does, starting with animal training.Â
Animal Training
The first perk you unlock is pretty self-explanatory as it gives animal companions bonus con and damage. We recommend making a save before picking this perk because we are not exactly sure how much bonus con and damage it gives your animal companions. Due to this, it might be best to avoid picking this perk for now.
Spirit Animal
This next perk called Spirit Animal gives the player’s animal companions better passive bonuses. Due to this, we recommend picking this perk over the last one as some animal companions give decent passives like the razorback’s bonus penetration.
Vengeful Bond
The last perk players can get with Animal Whisperer is Vengeful Bond which gives the player +50% critical chance and +2 Ap when their animal companion’s health drops to 25 con. Because of this, Vengeful Bond is probably the best perk you can get with the Animal Whisperer skill due to the fact your animal companions are going to lose health quite often. This is because they tend to rush deep into mobs of enemies which causes them to die fast. So with this perk at least you are getting +50% critical chance and +2 Ap when they do so. Moving on there is also quite a few animal companions you can find in the game and by taming them you can get various passive bonuses to whatever character tames them. With that said below, we have listed some of the ones we found while playing the game.
List of Animal Companions we found so far
- Polly
- Rabbit
- Waste Wolf
- Razorback
- Golden Toaster
- Clone
- The Provost
- Party Pal
- Pig
- Chicken
- Dog
- Deer
- Cyborg Chicken
- Howler
- Major Tom
Overall, Animal Whisperer is somewhat of a double edge sword largely due to the fact animal companions tend to die quickly in Wasteland 3. However, the skill can still give some pretty decent bonuses and can help out when you get into fights with animal enemy types. Also, Animal Whisperer could work well when combined with the Survival skill’s animal damage bonuses.
After this that will be everything, you need to know about the Wasteland 3 Animal Whisperer skill and all of the various bonuses and perks it has.
