In 2017, Total Mayhem Games released We Were Here, a free-to-play, co-op puzzle game. The game follows the story of two characters trapped in a mysterious castle. The characters, controlled by two players, can only communicate via walkie-talkies as they work to solve puzzles and escape. This gameplay formula met with success, gaining “Very Positive” reviews on Steam. We Were Here has since spawned two paid sequels, We Were Here Too, and We Were Here Together. Today, Total Mayhem Games revealed the release date and trailer for the fourth game; We Were Here Forever.
The We Were Here series takes place at a mysterious, puzzle-filled location called Castle Rock, and We Were Here Forever is no exception. Today’s announcement promises a 12+ hour co-op game with brand new puzzles:
“Make your way through previously unseen parts of Castle Rock, and once outside the Keep you will begin to uncover the story of Rockbury: the town’s inhabitants and the escape plans of a resistance formed against the King. Hope will lead you on to an eerie Graveyard and have you descend down into the dark waters of the Foundry. As you do so, you will learn more about past events that have taken place in this mysterious place.”
We Were Here video series shares the lore of the game
In addition to the release date and new trailer for We Were Here Forever, Total Mayhem Games have published the first episode of a live-action series about the games on YouTube. In it, players will learn about the history of Castle Rock. These videos might be beneficial for players who are new to the series or who just want to learn more before the next game’s release date.
We Were Here Forever will release on Steam and the Epic Games Store on May 10. PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S releases will follow.
