Hideo Kojima likes to keep us guessing, that’s for sure. Earlier today, he posted a trailer (maybe?) containing gameplay footage from Death Stranding, but that is about it. Fan theories have run wild from new content to Kojima just teasing fans just because he can.
The gameplay footage revolves around Sam “Porter” Bridges fighting his way through World War 1 in a series of maze-like trenches. It then shows Sam sprinting across an open field as a plane crashes and explodes behind him. The words “Coming 2020” slowly flash to life within the trailer before going dark. This paired with Kojima’s caption has fans hopeful that new content might be coming for Death Stranding later this year.
Fans of Kojima know what a movie buff he is, and the trailer (shown below) is an homage to that love. The Death Stranding trailer heavily mirrors the recent war film directed by Sam Mendes, 1917. Because of this, fans are uncertain as to whether or not the crazed Kojima is actually making new Death Stranding content. Or if he just made it because he wanted to.

Since dropping the trailer, Kojima has been pretty tight-lipped. He has not offered any further information on what the trailer might mean, but he has retweeted quite a few fan reactions. Hopefully, we’ll have answers sooner rather than later…
Death Stranding is available now on PlayStation 4, but it is coming to PC soon. An official release date has not been announced, but its Steam page states a release during Summer 2020. Pre-orders are available now!
