Whoopi Goldberg will be taking a break from the hit talk show, The View, after testing positive for COVID-19. There has been a surge in cases as of recent that has affected businesses and the entertainment world. Broadway show, The Music Man, had to be cancelled due to both their leads catching the virus. And now, the legendary actor Whoopi Goldberg has caught the virus, causing her to take leave as host of The View.
As said by Joy Behar, following Monday’s show, “Whoopi unfortunately tested positive over the break, but she will hopefully be back next week. Since she is vaxxed and boosted, her symptoms have been very, very mild, but we are being super cautious here at The View.”.
It appears Goldberg from The View, wasn’t the only co-host to catch COVID. According to co-host Sunny, she also was positive for COVID during the Holiday break.
The View has won 30 Emmys during their run-on television since 1997. It’s also now on its 25th season. Whoopi Goldberg has been the host of the iconic show since 2007 and has signed on to remain the host of the show for another three years.
Whoopi Goldberg is one of a few people to become an EGOT (Emmys, Grammys, Oscar, and Tony) winner. She has starred in many iconic projects like Ghost, Sister Act, The Color Purple, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and The Lion King. She recently starred in The Stand, streaming on Paramont+. In addition, she has a few projects coming out very soon. She will be featured in season 2 of Star Trek: Picard, reprising her role as Guinan, also streaming on Paramont+. And is also in pre-production to reprise the title role of Deloris in the upcoming Sister Act 3, set to premiere on Disney+.
