While the foundation of Overwatch 2 is generally solid, the ongoing list of bugs and glitches has made the gameplay experience abysmal for most players, and the saga of evergrowing issues continues with this week’s removal of Heroes Bastion and Torbjörn. For those new to Overwatch 2, Bastion is a Damage Hero who can swap between Assault, Recon, and Artillery modes in combat. Torbjörn is also a DPS but focuses more on zoning with his high-utility Turrets. Both of these playable characters are the favorites of many, but now they will be unable to play their preferred Hero pick for the time being.
Overwatch 2 Has Removed Bastion and Torbjörn
To clarify why Bastion and Torbjörn have been removed from Overwatch 2, players can refer to a Tweet from the game’s official account on Twitter. This Tweet states that both Heroes are unavailable due to a “few bugs in their ability kits” that require immediate attention.

This Public Service Announcement on Overwatch 2‘s Twitter also states that Bastion will remain unavailable for all game modes, but Torbjörn can be used in the less popular Quick Play. Bastion was undoubtedly the “more broken” of the pair, as players recently discovered a glitch that enabled the Hero’s Ultimate to be used infinitely even after reaching the three-missile limit. While it was fun to use in-game and obliterate those on enemy teams, the playerbase was dumbfounded that such a problem existed in this AAA 1.0 release. Similarly, Torbjörn had noticeable problems in his ability kit that required fixing as well.
Bastion and Torbjörn being removed from Overwatch 2 indicates the lack of polish reflecting the Blizzard team’s effort for the second title of their flagship franchise. Of course, this does not mean that the game cannot get better over the months and years of its continued development and improvement. However, along with the rest of the game’s rough launch, such an occurrence proves that there is much to be done before a satisfied state is achieved. Until Bastion and Torbjörn have been fixed, fans will have to use different Heroes in Overwatch 2 until an announcement on their return is revealed.
Overwatch 2 is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
