The Real Housewives of Miami debuted on Bravo in 2011 and went on to air on the network for two more seasons between 2011 and 2013. Set in Florida, RHOM is the seventh installment of the Real Housewives franchise coming on the heels of OGs like The Real Housewives of Orange County and other cities, including Atlanta, New York City, Beverly Hills, New Jersey, and D.C.
Real Housewives of Miami Returns To Bravo
After three seasons on Bravo, RHOM moved to Peacock for seasons 4 and 5. Although fans first greeted the move with some apprehension, they quickly learned to appreciate the decision. However, it seems the show can’t find a permanent home, as it was revealed in March that RHOM would be returning to Bravo for the forthcoming sixth season. The network announced via its official Instagram account. While sharing the news, the network said,
“Time to feel the rush again…on BRAVO! #RHOM Season 6 is returning to Bravo and streaming next day on Peacock!”
The news came as a surprise to the show’s fans, albeit not a good one. Most of the fans had gotten used to watching the series on Peacock and saw no need for the recent return to Bravo. Below are some reasons why the fans are not so excited about The Real Housewives of Miami returning to Bravo.
Bravo Might Change The Airing Schedule and Production Quality
When Peacock took over The Real Housewives of Miami during season 4, the show was in bad shape and needed a clear vision to bring it back on track. Thankfully, the streaming service produced a masterstroke when they made some tweaks to the show. Peacock made it more exciting to watch for the fans, who had already gotten tired of the show before the move.
First, Peacock invested more money in production, which improved the show’s quality remarkably. Also, Peacock altered the airing schedule of the show and began dropping early morning episodes. More importantly, the streaming platform triggered viewers’ interest by releasing three episodes at once to start each season.
Fans fear Bravo’s return might end the positive momentum gained under Peacock, appreciating the adjustments made by the streaming platform. In recent weeks, fans have shared their opinions, with many believing that the show’s return to Bravo is a mistake
On Reddit, Real Housewives of Miami fans recently talked about the situation. A Reddit user, u/kyning, started a discussion thread by sharing a screenshot of Bravo’s Instagram announcement of the return. Fans expressed concern that the move might impact the airing schedule and production quality introduced by Peacock.
While reacting to the thread, one user, u/Lowyaknow, wrote,
“Sad. Peacock production, early morning episodes, and 3 episodes dropped at once at the beginning of the season were all top-tier. Nervous Bravo is going to fuck it up, tbh :/”
Peacock Made Watching RHOM Easier
Another point raised by fans on the Reddit thread was how RHOM’s move to Peacock made it easier and cheaper for people to watch the show. As a streaming platform, most people only need an internet connection to access most of the content on the forum. Many consider Peacock a cost-effective choice compared to other platforms. It offers a wide range of content at a minimal fee.
However, with the show’s return to Bravo, only fans with cable will get to watch the show first. Peacock users, on the other hand, would experience a 24-hour delay before the episode becomes accessible on the streaming platform. While some fans feel this is a step in the wrong direction, they wondered why Bravo didn’t go for a simultaneous release. One user, u/cardcatalogs, commented,
“They could at least do a simultaneous release. I don’t have cable, meaning I watch all the shows the next day, and it’s not always fun having to wait.“
Some other Real Housewives of Miami fans went extreme by suggesting the show should be canceled. They went on to tell some other shows people could watch on Peacock. While this might be a bit of an over-stretch by a section of the fanbase, it highlighted how unhappy the fans are about the show’s return to Bravo.
RHOM season 6 is in production, with several original cast members confirmed to return for the upcoming season. The returning cast includes Larsa Pippen, Julia Lemigova, Guerdy Abraira, Alexia Nepola, Dr. Nicole Martin, and Lisa Hochstein. Kiki Barth, Marysol Patton, and Adriana de Moura would also join the show as friends.
