Believe it or not, the Pokemon Trading Card Game has been around since 1996. Many generations have been entertained by this game and brought a lot of fun time for families and friends. But if you have been a long fan of this game, then you know there is one card missing from all the collections. This card is Kadabra, and here is why Kadabra was banned from The Pokemon TCG.
Why Was Kadabra Banned from the Pokemon TCG?
If you have been collecting cards for the Pokemon Trading Card Game, then you probably know there is one card that cannot be found anywhere. The card is called Kadabra and has been absent from the game for many years now.
It was recently announced that Kadabra will be back for this year’s TCG after 20 years of absence. The story behind this absence is also quite interesting, which caused this card to be banned from the Pokemon TCG.
Back in 2000, an illusionist name Uri Geller sued the Pokemon Company because of Kadabra’s likeness to his name and appearance. Later on, Geller also found out that Kadabra’s Japanese name was Yungerer which we believed to be an amalgamation of his names.

June 16. will feature the first Kadabra, who hasn’t appeared on cards since 2002 due to a legal dispute between Pokémon and Geller, who sued them due to the likeness yungeller and Uri GELLER. Since then, the Pokemon Company has removed Kadabra from card sets and phased it out of the anime as well. But the good news is that Geller has decided to back off, and this allows the Pokemon Company to bring back Kadabra after more than 20 years.
Geller later discussed the situation with Kotaku and admitted that he made a mistake. He stated that becoming a grandfather and seeing his granddaughters playing with the cards made him realize what a mistake he did.

Uri Geller also stated that he personally wrote to the chairman of Pokemon and told him that he was releasing the card from the ban. Not only that, but Geller said he plans to have various Kadabra cards himself and plexiglass them and put them in his personal museum in Jaffa, Israel.
And that was how Kadabra was banned from the Pokemon TCG and how it will be back this year.
