Will Arnett will replace Armie Hammer in the upcoming comedy Next Goal Wins. Taika Waititi is the director of the soccer comedy. This adds to the troubles of Armie Hammer. He had been playing an executive at the Football Federation American Samoa. The plot of Next Goal Wins follows a tragically awful American Samoa soccer team, known for an immensely upsetting 31-0 loss at the 2001 FIFA match. The team hires coach Thomas Rongen (played by Michael Fassbender) in an attempt to whip the team into shape to qualify for the 2014 World Cup. Hammer’s role was just a cameo, but since Arnett joined the cast it’s been lengthened. The cast includes Elizabeth Moss, Oscar Kightley, David Fane, and many more. Will Arnett replacing Armie Hammer, has been a part of the many troubles of Armie Hammer. Taika Waititi’s soccer comedy Next Goal Wins has a 2022 release date.
The Troubles of Armie Hammer
By all accounts, Armie Hammer had a blossoming career. His breakthrough role in David Fincher’s The Social Network launched him into notoriety. His role in Call Me by Your Name further showed his acting chops. 2021 turned out to not be a great year for Hammer. The troubles of Armie Hammer started when the social media account House of Effie exposed direct messages from Hammer detailing his obscene fantasies. After the scandal came to light, he backed out of several projects like Lionsgate’s Jennifer Lopez romantic comedy Shotgun Wedding. The actor became a suspect to the Los Angeles Police Department regarding an alleged sexual assault on February 3, 2021. There have been no charges filed against the actor. The loss of his role in the Taika Waititi soccer comedy Next Goal Wins, is just the tip of the iceberg.
Many other actors have had to replace him besides Will Arnett. It’s unknown whether or not his ongoing scandals will end his acting career, but as of now it’s most definitely stalling it.
