Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock is in the spotlight on a new variant cover for the relaunched Guardians of the Galaxy series. While Poulter’s live-action version of the character will not make his debut until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, he will feature on the cover of the first issue of the new series. This special cover for the book, which comes from the creative team of Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, and Kev Walker, uses a still from the feature film to show off Poulter’s characters.
Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock
Fans have been eager to get a live-action Adam Warlock since the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 alluded to the character’s arrival. For those unfamiliar with the Marvel hero, Adam Warlock is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe. Per comicbook.com, he was created by scientists on Earth to be the ‘perfect man’. However, Warlock ended up leaving Earth and protecting the Infinity Stones in space.
Now, Will Poulter is bringing the iconic Marvel character to life for James Gunn’s third Guardians film. While we only saw glimpses of him in the film’s trailer, this variant cover gives a great look at the ‘golden man’. From what we have seen, it looks like Warlock is an antagonist to the Guardians, at least in the beginning. Several scenes show Poulter’s hero fighting against Star-Lord and the rest of the space-faring heroes.
The New Guardians of the Galaxy
While the variant cover is likely in celebration of the third film, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the character pop up sometime in the comic. Unfortunately, much of what to expect in Guardians of the Galaxy #1 is being kept hush-hush. However, what we do know is that a new roster of Guardians is exploring the far-reaches of the galaxy. Running from something called “Grootfall”, Star-Lord, Gamora, Mantis, Drax, and Nebula will encounter new planets and species. Who better to aid the heroes than the man who protects all of space.
If not, you can catch Will Poulter’s Marvel debut as Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in May.
