Will Smith recently ghosted a Fresh Prince public appearance for fear he would bring bad press to the event and muddy it. This is all in regards to the slap heard ’round the world. The reality is, post slap, Will Smith has been very much hidden from the public eye since the slap incident. While some think he is laying low because he is trying to get his life together and hold himself accountable. Others seem to think he just doesn’t want to face professional fallout for his actions.
NBC has been pushing the Fresh Prince reboot on the masses. This is rumored to be so they can get an Emmy for the show. This past Tuesday, they held another event to further promote the I.P, but Smith was a no-show. The world seems split on whether Smith showing up would help or hinder the Emmy appeal.
Regardless, he was nowhere to be seen, which is odd considering he is the show’s producer.
The Slap Heard ‘Round the World
To say Smith’s life changed after the Oscars would be an understatement. But you all realize this is NOT the first time Smith has pimp-slapped a grown man, right?
Granted, the time in question, the slap, is much more justified. That reporter gave off some creepy vibes. But still, Smith has some hands; that much is clear.
That seems to be the overall question of the day. The reality is that no one knows. To avoid this Fresh Prince public appearance by Will Smith because of the slap may have done more harm than good at this point. But we need to remember that Smith is an icon. Everyone has moments when they stumble, but that does not define them.
Their true strength comes from how they choose to get up after they hit the mat. And we’ve all seen Smith play Muhammed Ali, so we know the dude can get back up after a knockdown.
But at this point, the rest is up to him.
