Windbound has been in my sights for the last few months. The game seems to take inspiration from the amazing Breath of the Wild while forging its own identity. From what we’ve seen in the trailers, everything gets me more and more excited to try this RPG brimming with potential. With only a week to go until launch, Deep Silver and 5 Lives Studios want to give a final taste of what to expect before launch. The teams released the Windbound Mural Trailer today, which delves into secrets of the game’s Forbidden Islands. You can see the trailer for yourself below.
The mural prophesizes much of Kara’s (the protagonist) story. She and her tribe are traveling across the ocean in search of a new place to call home when a terrible storm hits. The storm tears into her family’s tribe, and Kara’s boat breaks apart and sends her adrift. Stranded on an island with no way back to her tribe, Kara must work with the island’s resources if she is to survive. One final piece of the mural teases her having mastered the wildlife of the islands, taking on one final challenge. What could this mysterious being be? How difficult will it be for Kara? You’ll have to play Windbound to find out.
To go with these murals, the teams today revealed the pre-order bonuses for Windbound. For those purchasing the game on the Steam, Microsoft, or Epic Games stores get Kara’s Ancestral Gear set at launch. For those who pre-order on Nintendo Switch, you’re entitled to the Kara’s Ancestral Gear DLC for download until September 10th. Japan, Hong Kong, and Korea pre-orders will get the pack one week later and will be able to claim until September 15th. PlayStation and Stadia users can’t pre-order, but get the pack if you get the game in the first two weeks of launch.
I’m excited about both the pre-order bonuses, but also the story. The story of Windbound seems very intriguing, but we’ll have to wait and see how it plays out. I’d love to hear your thoughts though. What do you think of Windbound’s mural trailer? Will you be pre-ordering the game? Let us know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
