Windbound, developed by 5 Lives Studios, is being graced with something few titles get. Of course it’s not a surprise to receive the occasional update. But many games now charge for subsequent updates. Despite the apparent success for many, gamers feel some devs are unfair for charging for those updates.
The title by 5 Lives Studios, however, is getting the first of many free updates.
Windbound Receives Free Content
These updates will continue through Q4 of 2020 and lead into next year. All of this content will be available at no cost to the player. The first of these content updates launched just yesterday. And it contains a new Witch Skin that enhances the main character’s abilities. In addition to the new skin, included in the update are Photo and Endless Modes.
Kara’s Witch Skin comes in three parts: the Witch’s Hat (longer-lasting potions), the Witch’s Outfit (respawn near your death point), and the Witch’s Staff (unbreakable staff with heat-seaking fireballs released with each melee hit).
Photo Mode in Windbound works like in many other games. But the features in this title are a little more extensive:
- 20 various poses and expressions for the character
- 20 hats and accessories
- Different ‘camera’ filters: Black/White, CRT, pastel
Eternal Voyage mode offers endless play for gamers. This allows players to go past Chapter 5 to take on progressively challenging levels.
This year’s update will come with additional skins, Free-sailing Mode, and the ability to upgrade the Nautilus experience. Accompanying that will also be new challenges to complete.
Next year’s first update will seek to expand upon the previous Nautilus tower experience. Introduced in this update will be new combat moves and enemy types. New gameplay mechanics will be added through a “corruption” system. More information on this will be available following content release.
Previously a pre-order bonus, Kara’s Ancestral Gear is available for $2.99 on digital stores now. The full game is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
