Just five months after being released into the public domain, our beloved honey-eating friend Winnie the Pooh, created by A.A. Milne, has turned from a sweet childhood icon to a dark and twisted maniac. What is the name of this Winnie the Pooh horror film, you ask? Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. Blood and honey, yikes. But this is always possible when kind and cherished characters are slipped into the public domain.
In Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, our sweet fictional friend from Disney turns into a psychopathic bear in this new slasher film. The Winnie the Pooh horror film is an indie title reportedly in post-production. Earlier this week, Dread Central discovered images from the upcoming slasher pic written and directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield. The stills include what looks like a girls’ trip in a cabin somewhere with twisted maniacal versions of Winnie the Pooh and Piglet. One picture shows a girl looking at dripping blood on the house’s windows with the words “Get Out” written.
According to Variety’s interview with Rhys Frake-Waterfield, Waterfield has said the response to the stills has been “absolutely crazy.”
Also, in the interview, Waterfield revealed the plot of the Winnie the Pooh horror film.
“Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” will see Pooh and Piglet as “the main villains […] going on a rampage” after being abandoned by a college-bound Christopher Robin. “Christopher Robin is pulled away from them, and he’s not [given] them food, it’s made Pooh and Piglet’s life quite difficult….“Because they’ve had to fend for themselves so much, they’ve essentially become feral.”
Other characters who will not be seen are still in copyright, such as Tigger, but there is apparently a scene featuring everyone’s favorite gloomy donkey Eeyore. Well, not so much as the actual Eeyore but instead his tombstone after the ravenous Piglet and Winnie ate him.
Starring in the upcoming slasher cast is Craig David-Dowsett (Winnie) and Chris Cordell (Piglet). The women starring as the girls in the film include Amber Doig-Thorne, Maria Taylor, and Danielle Ronald. Other characters found on the IMDb page include Bao Tieu as “Caged Man” and Danielle Scott as “Mauled Woman.”
