Why use magic when a magnum works just as well? The magical forests turned out to be less enchanting than expected — better take a gun. Embark on a wild journey into a wilderness imbued with the arcane, crawling with deadly beasties and mystical secrets. What fires better than one rifle but two as you can brave the wastelands solo or with a party of friends. Final Fantasy IX Vivi’s got a shotgun, and Merlin fancies firing rounds with a trusty flintlock. Developed by Galvanic Games and published by Devolver Digital, Wizard With A Gun will be released in 2022 next year.
While typical sorcerers and practitioners of the ancient arts use incantation and spellbooks, our magical gunslinging Jawas prefer the lock-and-load gunslinging approach to monster-slaying. With the world fractured, time and space have gone awry, and it’s up to our firearm-wielding warlocks to restore the lands by force. Armed to the wand with magical ammunition and talismanic gear, scour dusty deserts, murky swamps, and chilling tundras in search of resources, secrets, and vicious monstrosities to battle. Blast beastly brutes in the face with your handy muskets, craft weaponry of supernatural destructive power, and design dazzling hats that may be more fashionable than functional in combat.
Wizard With A Gun looks in part like the highly praised survival sim Don’t Starve but plays similarly to an extent as well. The biomes are randomly generated, meaning the gameplay is bound to have some roguelike elements and replayability. The cartoony characters comically wobble about tongue-in-cheek in a fidgety manner like their spine was fused to a pogo stick. The animations are exceptionally crisp, and the spellbinding artwork is sublime with a darker fantasy aura that oozes grim mystery, eerie peril, and fiendish melancholy.
The exact release date of Wizard With A Gun has yet to be announced, so for now, we can only look forward to hearing more news from Devolver Digital about this upcoming blasting guns and wizardry fun-filled adventure.
