World War Z is a game that I’ve been meaning to give another try. I tried it a while back and I wasn’t a big fan, but I also had no one to play it with. To be fair, it was only on a free weekend but I’d still like to try it with friends. Games like this and Left 4 Dead are made for multiplayer. Thankfully, today that all changes. Saber Interactive and Focus Home Interactive are happy to announce that World War Z now has full PvE crossplay with the Dronemaster update. The news was celebrated with a trailer not only discussing crossplay but also the gameplay additions introduced.
Crossplay now allows players on the PS4, Xbox One, and Epic Games Store to play together via the in-game systems. No longer are you restricted to one platform, as others can join and murder zombies on a grand scale. That of course isn’t all that was introduced. Along with crossplay is the first new class since World War Z’s launch. This class is known as the Dronemaster and has a drone that can perform various tasks. By default, it has a stun gun for nearby zombies, but dabbling in the perk tree can give it a lethal long-range weapon, the ability to help allies, and more! From what’s been shown, the Dronemaster seems to be a solid support class with some solo DPS abilities and should be fun to learn.
With the new class and crossplay comes a new weapon for your World War Z arsenal. The ACW-20 is a low-caliber, semi-automatic grenade launcher designed for taking out groups of zombies. It’s very good at that, but keep in mind it can hurt your allies too. Be careful where you fire it. The ACW-20 joins a whole host of bug fixes, gameplay improvements, and weapon rebalancing to make the game feel that much smoother.
This is a great update for World War Z, which should bring a lot to players’ arsenals. We’d love to hear your thoughts on today’s update though. Do you think the Dronemaster will hold a good place in a squad? Will this new weapon prove to be a true offensive powerhouse?
