WWE has dropped the cover of its newest iteration of it’s WWE 2K yearly franchise. And for the first time in over 20 years, it’s letting the women wrestlers take front and center. Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns have been pushed as the newer faces of the company in the past couple years and with the latest resurgence of women’s wrestling being in the spotlight, it’s only appropriate that the current face of women’s wrestling is highlighted.
Last year’s entry into the franchise focused on the storyline that was the rise of fan favorite, Daniel Bryan. This year, with the announcement of Becky Lynch on the cover, the story mode will feature another famous angle, the rise of the popular group, The Four Horsewomen. The Group, Comprised of Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, Bailey, and Charlette Flair, took the wrestling world by storm a few years ago when they started making waves in the company by headlining and main eventing big pay per view events.
And to top off the excitement, WWE also announced the return of Hulk Hogan as a playable character as well as the pioneer of women’s wrestling, Chyna. This is important since both superstars weren’t on great terms with the company until recently. Hulk Hogan hasn’t been featured in a game since 2016 amid accusations of racism. Chyna has had a murky, troubled past with the company herself, and before her untimely death, she ventured into the realm of adult entertainment, The WWE using this as the excuse to keep her out of its games and even be mentioned in over 20 years.
But as they say, time heals all wounds and both are in the companies good graces once again and ready to be featured in the newest edition of the WWE 2k series.
