Each year, the WWE holds their annual draft to freshen their brands up. The draft otherwise known as the Superstar Shake-Up is typically used to end rivalries and stop the product from getting boring. Sadly, the 2020 draft seems to have thrown that idea out the window. This year’s draft moved some active rivalries over to the other brand while killing some of the highly anticipated ones. The 2020 WWE draft results also left many confused. Why were some tag teams broken up while drafting, but still moved over to the same show? Why are some rivalries still being continued despite becoming stale?
In prior years, the draft has been used to call NXT wrestlers up to the main roster or freshen up shows by introducing new rivalries. Sadly, due to COVID 19, WWE looks to be playing it safe at the moment. With WWE currently not touring, most of the main roster superstars have been staying locally. One possible explanation for some of the draft choices was to see if brand exposure was a key element. Will a superstar who is doing well on RAW draw more viewers on Smackdown or vice versa. Two things from the draft haven’t really been explained. Why were Otis and Tucker broken up and why isn’t Otis still with Mandy. The second one, why was Big E not drafted as part of The New Day and put on a different show?
Yes, we know wrestling is scripted but continuity is key. So WWE has some explaining to do. Even WWE 2K19 and WWE 2k20 make more sense. Below are the complete WWE draft 2020 results from October 9th, 2020, and October 12th, 2020.
