We’ve always thought Ubisoft to be the kind of company that takes one step forward and 10 steps back. On the one hand, the recent PlayStation Showcase of 2023 featured a fantastic trailer for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game. On the other, a recent Xbox listing claims Assassin’s Creed Mirage could have real gambling mechanics. If this is true, there’s a storm coming for Ubisoft. Despite the fact these developers have already said the game won’t have such tactics, we all know Ubisoft usually changes things for the worse. Yet, there’s still some faith for those waiting for this new game.

More than a rumor, the official store page on Xbox for Assassin’s Creed Mirage shows “Real Gambling/Paid Contests” in its ratings. This is strange, as the company behind the upcoming game said there wouldn’t be such things. Yet, seeing this on the store page makes players think Ubisoft won’t let go of loot boxes or other forms of monetization. Since Star Wars: Battlefront II had a huge backlash due to its loot boxes, players have despised these tactics. Sadly, this single-player title might include the future unless Ubisoft says otherwise.

We truly hope this doesn’t happen, as it would affect the game’s progression and fun. Some players hope the series returns to its roots, meaning no paid content and just a full, fun single-player experience. It remains to see if the real gambling elements will arrive in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and with the release date on the horizon, people are anxious. In the meantime, let’s see if Ubisoft does something to clear this up and get more people to try the game. The latest trailer for Assassin’s Creed Mirage was fantastic, and it shows the company is working hard at delivering a high-quality title.
