Since their launches, the users knew that the storage options on the new-generation consoles weren’t enough. Because the new generation storage allowed developers to put more, bringing an incredible file size. We have no complaints about the new-generation game features and shiny graphics, but the storage problem should have been fixed. Unlike Sony, Microsoft brought a compact solution with the series launch. Both Xbox Series consoles come with storage expansion inputs on the back, which is easy to install. And now, Western Digital is expanding its capabilities and releasing another expansion option.
Xbox Series Is Getting a New Expansion Card
The only problem with Western Digital’s first-generation expansion cards was their price. The cards are easy to install and fast as the consoles’ built-in SSD hardware. That’s pretty useful, but the price was nearly high as the Xbox Series S price. Western Digital’s new Black C50 expansion cards now deliver the same features at a lower price. The 512GB option is priced at $79.99, and the 1TB option is $149.99.
Xbox Series X has a good amount of storage compared to its little brother. Xbox Series S only allows you 364GB of storage; the rest is used for the system files. Xbox Series S closes the Series X’s storage with an extra $79.99 expansion card, so the console price clarifies as $378.99. The little brother seemed like a good option at first, but the new generation games’ size is making us reconsider which one to get.
Where To Buy?
The features and price are competitive, but it’s also important to know where you get the card. Fortunately, Western Digital has started selling with a launch discount. The discount amount might depend on the marketplace you buy, so make sure to choose the best fit for you. You can reach the distributors on this page.
It’s worth noting that the USB solutions are still working. But they only work with the past-generation Xbox One games because they’re fast to reach the new-generation games’ loading speed. The same is also available on PlayStation 5 with the same restrictions. It’s frightening to think the storage is a wall against next-generation games.
