Back in time, Crossfire was incredibly popular among the PC shooter games; developer Smilegate wanted to port the game into Xbox consoles. That port was named CrossfireX, and it also had a campaign mode developed by Remedy. Unfortunately, the game did a terrible launch, and things went wrong. After a short time, the game turned its first age; developer Xbox announced that they’re cutting the support for CrossfireX. The game still had a little fanbase, and there were announcements for them. Here’s what will happen to CrossfireX, and the announcement came from the studio.
Xbox Shooter Game CrossfireX Says Goodbye
The game was launched for Xbox in February 2021. While the players were expecting an anniversary event, the bad news arrived. The game is shutting down in its campaign mode, so you won’t even be able to play its offline mode. The final day for the game is May 18, 2023. Here’s the studio’s statement about the shutdown process:
“It is with the deepest regret that we are informing you of our decision to end support for the CrossfireX Xbox version on May 18, 2023. Since the launch of the game, we have worked tirelessly to bring it to a point where we can all be proud, and throughout it all we have had the honor and pleasure of supporting our players.
Coming to this decision was not easy, however, we can proudly say that our players have been amazingly active, passionate and enthusiastic in working with us to create a game that would be fun and enjoyable by all. We want to thank each and every one of our players for playing CrossfireX and being a part of this journey with us.”
The game sales will be refunded, and you can also request a refund for some purchases you made in the last 14 days. Here’s the link for refund requests. And there will be no new content on the way, but you can still enjoy the items in the game before the servers shut down.
