The expansion of XCOM 2 titled War of the Chosen is now here and the alien menace is stronger than ever. The Advent is recruiting three new aliens called “the Chosen” that XCOM must deal with. Hence the expansion’s clever name. Featuring new aliens to battle XCOM is going to need some new tools and luckily there is plenty new for the allies in War of the Chosen. XCOM will have three new factions leading the resistance that each have a distinct Hero class.
“With XCOM 2: War of the Chosen, Firaxis has developed a series-defining expansion to the award-winning XCOM franchise,” said Matt Gorman, VP of Marketing at 2K. “With a multitude of gameplay advances and new experiences, Firaxis Games has continued to redefine XCOM 2’s endlessly replayable campaign.”
The Chosen consist of the Assassin, the Hunter, and the Warlock. The Assassin is all about melee combat which is extra deadly at she also employs stealth and can kidnap your team. The Hunter deals out damage from afar on the other hand. His grappling hook allows him to access heights where he will potshot XCOM and taunt them. The Warlock is an abuser of psionics and mentally unhinged. This may explain why he considers himself a god.
The new resistance fighters will consist of the Reaper, Skirmisher, and Templar class. The Reaper has enhanced concealment abilities called Shadow to allow them to deliver death from a distance with stealth. The Skirmisher can grapple hook enemies to bring them closer and finish them off with the Ripjack. The Templar are a group that collects Psionic energy and have harnessed it to create their own weaponry. They have taken offense to the Warlock of the Chosen also seeking this energy. XCOM 2: War of the Chosen releases August 29th on PC and will be coming to Xbox One and PS4 on September 12.
DJ was but a lowly plumber until the evil Bowser kidnapped his lady love, Princess Peach. Since that day he spends his time stomping on Goombas and kicking flying turtles…..wait is that someone else’s story?
