Young Justice season 4 (or Young Justice: Phantoms) initially surprised fans by dropping the first two episodes on HBO Max. As of now, the season has kept with a regular schedule until December 30th (episode 13). As stated in the initial announcement for Young Justice season 4’s hiatus, new episodes will be released weekly.
Fans are still left wondering what the Phantoms subtitle for the show has to do with everything. However, co-creator Greg Weisman promised that it will be “ridiculously clear by the end of the season.” He then goes on to describe the second half as,
Our show has often been about how events and actions from a character’s past can follow them. Actions have consequences in our series, they are like phantoms. This has been even more impactful in our fourth season, and will be made more clear in the second half.
The Fight For Young Justice: Phantoms
Young Justice originally premiered on Cartoon Network in 2010, with the first season finishing in 2012. Cartoon Network canceled the show after its second season, Young Justice: Invasion (2012-2013).
Brandon Veitti and Greg Weisman created the animated series Young Justice. The show centers on young DC heroes like Robin, Beast Boy, Kid Flash, and more. Despite being a fan favorite and popular show, Young Justice was canceled in 2013 just after two seasons. Despite being canceled, a long-running fan campaign succeeded in reviving the series.
However, with the announcement of the second half of season 4, there is still no announcement of season 5. Weisman is still encouraging fans to continue showing their support for the series. He even went as far as to tell fans, “So if fans want more of Earth-16, the answer is simple: #KeepBringingYJ over and over. And over and over. And help us #SpreadTheWord. We want to save Earth-16.”
The first half of Young Justice season 4 (Young Justice: Phantoms) is available on HBO Max. The second half of the season returns this spring on the same platform.
