The upcoming fourth season of DC’s Young Justice animated series just received a new title. It was revealed during a panel at DC FanDome: Explore the Multiverse on Saturday. The highly anticipated return will be titled Young Justice: Phantoms. Executive producers Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti confirmed the title following a virtual table read with the cast. The table read covered an original episode just for the panel, which sets up events in the upcoming season.
GameSpot’s Chris E. Hayner moderated the panel. The special script followed Connor Kent (Nolan North) and Megan Morse (Danica McKellar) saying goodbye to their friends. This implies their time with the team is done. It also featured the return of Arsenal (Crispin Freeman) at the request of Artemis Clock (Stephanie Lemelin). Other cast members present included Jason Spisak (Wally West), Khary Payton (Aqualad), and Denise Boutte (Raquel Ervin).
Young Justice History
Young Justice originally launched in 2010 and ran for two seasons. It received acclaim from fans and critics alike for its handling of mature themes and fantastic animation. However, as Weisman revealed in 2016, the show’s funding was linked to a toy line from Mattel. Mattel pulled its funding due to the toyline’s poor sales which led to Young Justice’s cancellation.
The series received a revival in 2019 for the streaming platform, DC Universe, with the third season being titled Young Justice: Outsiders. While at San Diego Comic-Con that same year, Vietti and Weisman revealed the show’s renewal for a fourth season.
The DC FanDome panel didn’t reveal when Young Justice: Phantoms will be airing or on which platform. Following some financial issues with DC Universe, several original shows like Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn have moved over to HBO Max. The third season of Young Justice remains only on the DC streaming platform. Fans will have to be patient on any further news.
