Youtube will no longer focus on its YouTube Gaming app. The video sharing website is ditching the app business after making YouTube gaming part of its website. The Youtube.com/gaming website allows gamers to search through a plethora of video game content. Whether it’s videos, streams or specific gaming channels.
Currently, there are over 200 million Youtube users who watch video game content every single day. However, unlike Twitch, YouTube hasn’t been able to keep the people coming back. The Youtube Gaming app is said to stop all content flow and support by March 2019.
With their gaming website in place, YouTube users are able to find the content they want in just a few clicks. Visitors can also look for videos on specific games. The biggest issue for YouTube is still how they’re going to compete with Twitch.
Twitch currently has an average of 1.16 million viewers a day and an average of over forty thousand channels. YouTube’s numbers are actually higher in terms of those watching video game videos, but their failure to bring in dedicated live streamers is the main issue.
Gaming events and major video game content creators partner with Twitch to take in more of a community atmosphere. Twitch has had more monetization options and more interactions with its users than Youtube has. Another major problem why creators used Twitch over Youtube Gaming app is the money.
Those who use Twitch find it more convenient to make money on more of a viewer and fanbase basis and not on an advertisement level. On a streaming service, a few clicks on an ad isn’t what matters. What really matters are the tens of thousands of clicks on your video.
Youtube’s gaming website actually has a sparking resemblance to the Twitch’s layout. There are a handful of the top played games and then a handful of top streams below. If you’re a new streamer, don’t you worry.
YouTube also has a commitment to showing a new streamer on the rise each week. This helps promote smaller channels who want to be the next Markiplier.
