Zack Snyder’s Justice League is taking the internet by storm. Fans and critics alike laud this Director’s Cut as the superior version to Joss Whedon’s 2017 theatrical release. As far as Director’s Cuts go, it’s hard to think of one more hyped. And now, for those of you who want Zack Snyder’s realized vision in black-and-white, there’s good news. In a recent Twitter post, HBO Max revealed that Zack Snyder’s Justice League: Justice is Gray is coming soon.

This version of the film was revealed back in February. At the time, it was unclear when it would debut. While an exact date still isn’t confirmed, we won’t have to wait long. You can see the trailer for Justice is Gray below:
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is the culmination of years of fan demand. The Joss Whedon cut is generally considered disappointing among fans and critics alike. Because of the Buffy creators’ additions, fans feel that his version suffers from tonal conflicts. Said conflicts arise from Whedon’s famously witty dialogue which clashes with the film’s darker scenes.
The Snyder Cut is generally considered the superior version. Critics lauded Snyder for the depth of his characters but criticized the film’s four-hour length. During production, the movie was even considered as a miniseries instead. However, the film is split into six chapters and an epilogue so viewers can watch in installments if preferred.
Apart from color, there are no known differences between Justice is Gray and the original Snyder Cut. In a November 2020 interview, Snyder described it as “the most fan-centric, most pure, most Justice League experience. Because that’s how I lived with the movie for two years, in black-and-white.”
Regardless, the color version is available on HBO Max now in North America. Meanwhile, it streams on various other streaming platforms around the world.
