Hannah Waddingham is the latest celebrity to have a confrontation with the paparazzi. On Sunday, April 14, the Ted Lasso star attended the Olivier Awards. Wearing a lavendar dress, Waddingham smiled as she posed for the cameras. However, her cheerful mood diminished when one photographer made an inappropriate request, causing her to lash out.

Waddingham’s red carpet confrontation with the photographer has gone viral. An X user named @odeiotedlasso posted a video of the incident. While the photographer’s remarks are difficult to hear, it clearly annoyed Waddingham.
The actress replied, “Oh my god, you’d never say that to a man, my friend. Don’t be a dick, otherwise I’ll move off. Don’t say, ‘Show me leg,’ No.”
The crowd cheered Waddingham, who then walked off while pointing at the photographer.
Like her Ted Lasso character, Waddingham isn’t afraid to speak her mind. The Emmy-winning actress has been outspoken on various subjects, including insecurities about her appearance.
At five foot eleven, she’s taller than most women. Growing up, she was often bullied for her height. But it wasn’t just kids that made cruel remarks to her.
During a recent interview on Michelle Visage’s Rule Breakers podcast, Waddingham recalled a humiliating comment by a drama teacher.
I had one drama teacher that said to the whole class, ‘Oh, Hannah will never work on screen because she looks like one side of her face has had a stroke.
While the comment left her with an inferiority complex, she was determined to prove her teacher wrong. Yet, her insecurities got the best of her when she began her acting journey. Waddingham worried her height would hinder her acting career. However, thanks to Jason Sudeikis, she landed her big break.
In a June 2023 appearance on The View, Waddingham discussed how her co-star made her feel confident about her height.
Being a woman who’s not small, very tall, I had always struggled. When I went in for this, Jason was like, ‘I don’t care if she wears four-inch heels. Let’s do it.’ The fact that he was just like, ‘No, I don’t care that she’s taller than me,’ that’s a completely unique situation to find yourself in: where the man is so generous that they want to raise you up and to celebrate everything that you are, and not that you’re some skinny mini.
Waddingham continues to prove naysayers wrong. Her career is still going strong, and she’s not afraid to call out anyone for rude behavior.
