Kate and Oliver Hudson are spilling the tea. The duo, who are children of Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson, have never shied away from opening up about their unconventional family. In a shocking new revelation, Kate and Oliver detailed a secret family addition.
Kate And Oliver Hudson Have An Adopted Half-Brother
During an April 22 episode of Kate and Oliver’s Sibling Revelry podcast, the pair dropped a major bomb. They recently discovered that they had a half-brother, thanks to their dad.
“We found out we had an adopted brother, like, eight years ago. And he was put up for adoption and none of us knew on our dad’s side,” they revealed on the podcast.
Bill Hudson publicly disowned Kate and Oliver in 2015 after a Father’s Day post gone wrong.
According to Kate, their half-brother, Paul, was the one who reached out to them.
“One of the things Paul said was he had a great childhood and has a really full, happy life and never felt like he had to reach out and find out who his birth parents were,” the actress recalled. “It was really his wife who was like, ‘I want to know what your history is. I want to know for our kids, for you.’ And so, he basically left it up to her.”
Although Oliver and Kate don’t have a close relationship with their half-brother yet, they are certain he is their father’s son. Oliver noted that Paul “looks like a Hudson.” He also loves fishing, just like Oliver. However, what makes Paul such a Hudson man is his creative abilities.
“His [Paul’s] kids are very creative and athletic. I mean, it definitely fits into the whole Hudson vibe,” Kate declared.
Oliver Hudson Endured Trauma At Mom Goldie Hawn’s Hands
Kate and Oliver’s revelation about their secret half-brother comes almost a month after the Scream Queens actor seemingly bashed their mom. In a March episode of their podcast, Oliver opened up about some childhood trauma caused by Goldie Hawn. Although he described Hawn as an “amazing mother,” the 47-year-old confessed that her busy life as an actress negatively impacted him.
“My mother was the one that I had almost the most trauma about, interestingly enough, because she was my primary caregiver,” he explained. “I was with her all of the time, so I felt unprotected at times. She would be working. She had new boyfriends that I didn’t really like.”
Oliver further noted that having an absent father exacerbated his need for his mother. However, the trauma didn’t affect his relationship with Hawn.
